Years ago, I volunteered at my local hospital and found I enjoyed it: the environment, the feeling of being genuinely useful, and the sense that the work mattered.
For a while, I thought about becoming a physician assistant or physical therapist. But working with words was always what I loved most, and I eventually realized that I didn’t have to choose between a healthcare career and writing.
Healthcare copywriting turned out to be exactly that combination. More than ten years in, it still feels like the right fit.
To see my work:
I write copy that educates patients and informs decisions: content that has to be accurate, clear, and trustworthy, because the person reading it is often navigating something that genuinely matters to them.
My work spans women’s health, behavioral health, dental and oral health, veterinary medicine, and aesthetic medicine. A background in psychology informs how I approach potentially sensitive content—not just what the research says, but how patients in difficult moments actually receive and act on information. I currently work as a senior copywriter at a digital health marketing agency and maintain a small number of independent retainer clients.
My background also includes communications and knowledge base work at a medical device distributor—where I collaborated with a medical education team on surgical training materials and built the organization’s internal documentation system—and earlier experience in pharmaceutical account management in long-term care. Those environments shaped how I think about content in regulated, compliance-sensitive contexts.
I need very little direction and adapt to what the work requires—brand voice, AEO, SEO, voice of customer—depending on the client’s goals and the intent of the piece. I’m detail-oriented and research-driven, and I take editing seriously. "Word nerd" is probably the most accurate description.
I work remotely and primarily asynchronously, maintain a small number of retainer clients at a time, and deliver on deadline. I’m based in the Detroit area and work with clients across the US.
